What we can explore
- Alcohol and drug use concerns
- Triggers and recovery routines
- Supportive relationships
Understanding what use is doing for you
We can look at when and why use occurs, what makes change difficult and the consequences you want to address. Honest discussion helps establish goals that reflect your circumstances.
Supporting day-to-day change
Work may include recognizing triggers, planning for challenging situations, practicing coping skills and strengthening supportive relationships. Setbacks can be discussed openly and used to reassess the plan.
Finding the right level of support
Counseling may be one part of a broader recovery plan. Medical assessment, withdrawal management or a more intensive program may be needed, and those needs should be addressed with an appropriate medical provider.
